Rally to celebrate global warming!

the our future doesn’t matter march

We marched for our future in record number for the 2011 iMatter March last Mother’s Day. Tens of thousands of youth marched in over 160 cities and 43 countries. Time for Round Two! This Earth Day, let's march in record BREAKING numbers in cities all around the world, mocking the mindset that has put our caused this crisis in the first place.

Last year, the iMatter March in Driggs Idaho, was hilarious. Let's take it over the top and march with love and sarcasm all over the world to awaken Earth Day goers to the reality that protecting the planet isn't something you do just on one day a year. Our future is at stake. Come ON! Get with the revolution. Seriously.

The dangerous reasoning and absurd justifications of climate deniers keeps money in their pockets while our lives and futures are ignored. The “Rally to Celebrate Global Warming” will expose the reality that anyone who is not committed to being part of the solution to stop climate change, is actually FOR it. Every time we believe the reasoning that “that’s just the way things are,” we are celebrating the escalation of climate change by allowing it to happen.

The youth voice is a moral authority on climate change. Just as the kid in the “Emperor’s New Clothes” is the one brave enough to speak out—we the youth voice—will expose how the backwards mentality that prioritizes short-term profits over planetary stability. Earth Day is about a lot more than “going green”....it’s an opportunity to make a deeper commitment to the youngest generations....to commit to live as if their future matters.

The map is coming soon, but you can get started planning now.

From DC to Delhi, youth will lift the veil on the true cost of fossil fuels

Marching Orders

To mobilize the Planet for Earth Day

the OUR FUTURE DOESN'T MATTER March

Sarcasm for social change! Recruit friends. Make hilarious signs. March to your local Earth Day celebration. Open minds.

Funeral for Our Future FLASHMOB

At the end of your march, once you reach the crowds at your Earth Day event (or some other public place), everyone under age 20 falls to the ground in a die-in flashmob.

Get a booth or table at your Earth Day event

Research and find out if there is an Earth Day event near you and arrange to get a table to do some serious recruiting for the iMatter Summer of Actions.

PHASE 1: Use humor to break through closed minds

The our future doesn't matter march

If the future of youth did matter, we would have limits on greenhouse gas emissions. Reveal the mindset that got us in trouble in the first place.

Make funny, sarcastic signs, reach out to friends and others through the map, social media, and the old fashioned way (relationships!) and march to your local Earth Day event, or join us in D.C. Download the toolkit below for more information on logistics and outreach.

PHASE 2: Get serious "Our future is no joke"

funeral for our future flashmob

A die-in flashmob to make the point that inaction on climate change is jeopardizing our future!

Marchers are encouraged to participate in a flash mob upon arrival at the local Earth Day event (or a busy location if there is no formal Earth Day). At a pre-arranged moment, all the youth in the group (not the adults...for effect!) will fall to the ground to represent the future that’s in store for the youngest generation if we continue to spew greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere.

PHASE 3: iMatter table at your earth day event

If the future of youth did matter, we would have limits on greenhouse gas emissions. Reveal the mindset that got us in trouble in the first place.

Make funny, sarcastic signs, reach out to friends and others through the map, social media, and the old fashioned way (relationships!) and march to your local Earth Day event, or join us in D.C. Download the toolkit below for more information on logistics and outreach.

THEN WHAT?

spend your summer awakening your community

iMatter is not an Event, it’s a Movement. Earth Day will launch the iMatter “Summer of Action.”
This summer, as a movement, we will march, boycott, do street theater, hold a town hall and other activities to get the attention of our leaders. In this election year, every presidential candidate will try to avoid the most pressing issue of our time...it’s up to us to make sure that doesn’t happen and ensure that the media is awakened to the reality of our situation on this planet.
